The Manuka shrub has long been valued for its healing properties by the local Maori, infusions and poultices were made from the leaves and inner bark. It has only more recently been “discovered” by the rest of the world. Its essential oil is derived from the leaves through steam distillation.
The aroma is best described as Woody, earthy, and balsamic.
